National Panhellenic Conference Chapter Updates

Alpha Delta Pi

This past month, the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi have been very busy with Greek Week Events! But in addition, 16 sisters attended a District Leadership conference in Maryland, where they met ADPi's from 15 other universities and learned more about their jobs in the sorority. Over Spring Break, some sisters went to Washington and Lee and assisted with initiation for a new chapter! Also, the girls of Spring '09 were initiated through our traditional three days of initiation, called Diamond Days. And finally, we recently had a Total Membership Education event where we heard the guest speaker Linda Williams-Moore who talked to us about "Living Beyond Your Letters." All the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi are looking forward to our philanthropy event, Quarters for Kids, on April 8th!

Alpha Epsilon Phi

As summer approaches, the sisters of Alpha Epsilon Phi have been finishing up on quite a busy semester. The beginning of March held our annual Parent's Brunch which had an excellent turnout and a cookie exchange sisterhood event where each sister decorated a cookie for one another.

Also, we had our formal at Le Mont, which has a stunning view of downtown Pittsburgh that provided a beautiful backdrop for a successful evening. Coming up, we have our end of the year picnic in Schenley Plaza. We would like to welcome our fabulous new sisters and give a huge goodbye to all of our graduating seniors! Congratulations!

Chi Omega

Chi Omega has had a very exciting semester and we are very sad that it is coming to an end. But we aren't done just yet we still have some exciting events coming up. We have a parent brunch coming up at the Walnut Grill in Shady Side and our annual Elusinia brunch on Sunday April, 5th. We hope everyone has a great summer and we can't to see everyone back in the fall!

Delta Delta Delta

In early April, our chapter attended the Annual Greek Week Formal and received a variety of awards for our participation in Greek Life for the 2008-2009 school year.  In addition to receiving overall second place for Greek Week events, we were also awarded highest fall participation, first place in the blood drive, best Greek Sing choreography, and first runners up for Greek Sing.  Our sister Molly Humphreys was also named Greek Woman of the Year.  We also held our end of the year Senior Recognition event to honor our graduating seniors with personalized gifts and letters from their families.  And in more recent news, we spent the last few weeks of school participating in a variety of “Deltas Only” events, where we planned fun outings for the sisters to get to spend time with one another.  These included a movie night in South Side, a visit to the Pittsburgh Zoo, and Pittsburgh Pirates Game.  Although we’ve all said our goodbyes, we will continue to work hard throughout the summer and are very excited to begin preparations for fall recruitment.

Delta Phi Epsilon

Delta Phi Epsilon will be holding their annual Deeper dude competition on April 1.  The competition is a male beauty pageant.  They men are judged in different rounds including formal wear and talent.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Delta Zeta

The Sisters of Delta Zeta have been doing big things over the past few months.  Our president, Natasha Hepburn traveled to Houston, TX for the Delta Zeta Leadership Conference from January 30th through February 1st. While at the conference, she met fellow Delta Zetas from around the country, learned things about other chapters, and attended numerous leadership workshops. Later in February,  a team of DZs participated in Chi-Omega Dodge Ball  and played very competitive games against other sororities. On March 19th, we held our annual DZ Date Auction, which was another success!  With the help of our generous bidders, we raised over $1,300.00 for our national philanthropy: Speech and Hearing. For Greek Week Events, the Delta Zeta sisters performed very well in the Olympiad, especially in the events of pie-eating and dizzy bat. Our house chose Ainsley Ashton as our Greek Goddess. She performed the routine from the movie Little Miss Sunshine, which was a big crowd pleaser. Last but not least, Delta Zeta is happy to announce the initiation of six new sisters who went through this past Spring Recruitment!

Kappa Delta

During March we had an Official Visit from our Chapter Service Manager from Nationals, Katie Grassmeyer. We spent the weekend in brainstorming workshops and learned alot about ourselves individually and our chatper as a whole. We had a great weekend and really enjoyed Katie's visit!

Girl Scouts of the USA are one of our National philanthropies and we recently were approached by the Western PA Girl Scouts to be a Special Interest group for them. For high school girls that still want to be a part of Girl Scouts but no longer have the time to attend the weekly meetings, they can join a Special Interest Group and our chapter has become one! So, the way that these girls stay connected to Girl Scouts is by coming to our events! We recently had our first event with them titled, "Present Your Best Self." We made "About Me" pages, talked about self esteem, dicussed the Dove True Beauty campaign and gave a little resume workshop, which taught the girls about presenting themselves the best way possible for employers. It was very successful and so much fun! We can't wait to hang out with the girls again at our next event!

We recently won 1st place at Greek God and Goddess! Our sister Sarah Forsyth won for her original Chinese dancing! She was dressed in the authentic garb and balanced bowls on her head while she danced around stage:) She represented our house so fabulously and we were so proud!!

Our Annual Shamrock Powder Puff Football tournament is about to happen in the next week on April 5th and we are very excited! All the sororities are going to come out to help us support Prevent Child Abuse America by playing a little football.

We also on April 6th are going to be having our Bingo Extravaganza Event at St. Pauls. We are helping one of our alumnae Cathie Marcks with this event to help raise money for Anzar Exchange, which is an organization that is trying to raise funds to be able to purify the water supply in Moracco. We are spreading the word not only in the Greek community but campus and community wide. We can't wait and hope it is a success!

Kappa Kappa Gamma

What an exciting couple of weeks it's been for Kappa Kappa Gamma! We conducted our Annual Lunchbox Auction with the Brothers of Delta Tau Delta. We raised a great sum of money to donate to our philanthropy. Our sisters participated in Greek Olympiad and had a blast! Allison Supko performed "Love Story" by Taylor Swift for Greek God and Goddess and it was amazing! Our Greek Sing girls took a lot of time out of their busy schedules to practice for the big Greek Sing show!! In April, we held our Bowl-A-Thon where many organizations came out to bowl and support us! Our Baseball sisterhood was a success as well. Our lovely seniors were honored at the Senior Date Party where everyone had a great time.  Once again everyone is happy in Kappaland, and looking forward to an awesome summer!

Sigma Delta Tau

April is a busy month for Sigma Delta Tau.  The sisters are getting together and having a Sephora party right before our spring formal for makeovers and fun.  We then move right along to our Founders' Day and Parents' Weekend Festivities.  Founders' Day for SDT is actually March 25th, but we will all get together this year on April 5th to catch up and recognize our seniors.  Finally, our annual philanthropy event, Leadership Lockup, will be held on the 10th.  All proceeds go to our national philanthropy Prevent Child Abuse America.  We hope to see you all there!Of course soon after that everyone will be preparing for finals, and we are sure to have some fun stress break activities to take off the pressure.

Sigma Sigma Sigma

March has proved to be an exciting month for the sisters of Sigma Sigma Sigma. On the March 22nd we were happy to welcome four new members into our sisterhood after an exciting and fun-filled new member process. Our regional director came to stay with us  for a few days and has met with our executive board along with other various positions providing a lot of helpful tips and an added boost to end the year on a successful note. On April 18th we will be having our Founder's Day brunch and recognizing all of our graduating seniors and everything they have done to help our house. We also invite back alumni reconnect for Founder's Day, it's a fun way to connect our graduated sisters and our new sisters!
